I am particularly attentive to the importance of physical and emotional balance during motherhood, and more specifically during breastfeeding. This moment, as intimate as it is natural, can sometimes prove to be a real challenge for many mothers, despite the obvious benefits it brings.

This is why I wanted to share this article written by Shirel Choufane , a passionate and committed breastfeeding facilitator, who supports mothers in this wonderful adventure.

So, are you breastfeeding?

This question is one that all young mothers have heard. And it is often asked as if breastfeeding were obvious: easy, innate, or even "obligatory". In reality, whether or not to breastfeed your baby remains a personal choice. There is no right or wrong way , there is just the one that suits us.

And yet, when difficulties arise, we can quickly feel overwhelmed. Feel guilty. Feel helpless in the face of our inability to meet our baby's needs. At that moment, we dream of a listening ear, of someone who can understand what we are going through, and above all who can provide us with support.

Questions flood in. Doubts set in. And sometimes we feel like we can no longer fully enjoy this wonderful adventure that is motherhood.

The pains of starting breastfeeding , for example… If only we knew that they are normal and temporary! Maybe we could have given ourselves a little more time before giving in to the pressure and giving up, against our will?

If we were told about the physiology of the lactating breast, perhaps we could have avoided repeated engorgement?

And let's talk about baby's intense demands! Because what exactly is breastfeeding on demand ? What if we talked instead about breastfeeding adapted to the needs of baby and mother?

It is for all these reasons that I am writing to you, dear mother...

I want to tell you that you are not alone . You are entitled to doubts, difficulties, and moments when you feel lost. But know that you have all my support . I am here for you.

My name is Shirel Choufane , I am a mother of 4 children, and I am passionate about breastfeeding. My role, as a breastfeeding facilitator , is to accompany you in this adventure. You have made the courageous decision to breastfeed your baby, know that I will be there to guide you, inform you and give you practical advice. Together, we will make sure that your Milky Way is as gentle and fulfilling as possible for you.

Did you know?

On the third night in the maternity ward , roughly called in our society the Java night, a strange phenomenon occurs. The baby will be able to suckle without stopping. At this point, mothers begin to ask themselves questions:

  • “My baby only calms down at the breast.”

  • “He must be hungry! He moans every time I take him away!”

  • “Maybe I don’t have enough milk?”

In reality, the baby is not ready to let go of his mother's breast , who has just experienced the intensity of childbirth and is tired. This behavior has a very specific explanation: it stimulates his body to encourage the production of milk.

Baby is very smart! During this phase, he needs to get the milk, it is the night of the milk call. The first milk, called colostrum , is present in small quantity but ultra-nutritious. Then, this milk turns into transitional milk, more abundant, and this is what baby actively seeks to obtain. He suckles frequently to encourage the milk to come in. Everything is NORMAL.

But without support and without information, it's panic!

Without having been informed of this completely physiological and natural phenomenon, the mother could then start to ask herself questions! Then doubts surface and invade her mind... "What if I lack milk?"

I would like to soothe you, dear mother, and be there to guide you . By providing you with clear answers, valuable information and constant support, you will experience your motherhood with complete serenity.

And you, super mom,

You have all the abilities to succeed! Trust yourself! And I will be there to support you, to help you overcome the challenges, because you are not alone in this adventure.

I am here for you, every feeding, every doubt, every victory.

Shirel Choufane, your breastfeeding facilitator.
